Cleanse deeply and refresh your skin with this natural face wash, harnessing valuable plant extracts in a gently foaming cleanser
Gentle Cleansing Foam is a natural face wash for normal and combination skin that does not dry out the skin even though it cleanses thoroughly. Carefully-selected, mild cleansers from plant origins carry away grime, but leave your skin’s moisture balance undisturbed. These cleansers rinse daily dirt, excess oil and make-up away in the kindest, most effective way. Organic witch hazel extract is included, together with fresh, uplifting fragrances from essential oils. Your skin is left ready for the rest of your skincare routine – fresh, supple and soft.

Q. What does Weleda recommend for removing eye makeup and treating the eye area?
Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil gently, yet effectively, removes eye makeup. Apply to a slightly damp cotton pad and pat over the eye area. Almond Soothing Facial Oil also nourishes the eye area. Wild Rose Smoothing Eye Cream is specifically formulated for use on the delicate eye area to strengthen the skin and tissues and reduce puffiness. This light, fragrance-free eye cream is suggested for use both day and night.
Q. What ages skin?
When skin ages cell division is slower and the Epidermis gets thinner. The skin metabolism gets slower, sweats less, and loses oils and proteins. Collagen and elastin, two protein fibres which give the skin its elasticity and resilience begin to loose elasticity and the ability to hold water, causing skin to become dry.
As we age, skin becomes more easily damaged, light sensitive, with more visible pigmentation. Lines and wrinkles from laughter and other habitual facial expressions deepen.
Skin ages for two reasons: environmental stress, (eg sun damage or photo-aging), and intrinsic aging, where protein fibres are naturally replaced at a slower rate.
We can’t stop fibre replacement slowing down, but we can help prevent the damage from environmental stress.
Q. What is glycerin and why does Weleda use it?
Glycerin is a threefold alcohol found in every fat. Weleda use glycerin derived from rapeseed oil. This ingredient is produced through the saponification process of vegetable oil and soap. It regulates the absorption and release of water, softening and smoothing the skin.
Q. Why does Weleda use alcohol in their skin care products?
Weleda use organic grain alcohol in many of their creams, lotions and cleansers. It is needed to extract the active components of the herbs and other plants used in products. Additionally, alcohol improves the consistency and the stability of products. The stabilising effect is important as they do not use any synthetic preservatives in any Weleda products.
Alcohol has some benefits for the skin; it is a mild disinfectant and is also cooling. The alcohol content in Weleda skincare products does not harm the acid mantle, the skin’s natural oily cover. Weleda use low concentrations of alcohol in our creams, lotions and cleansers and at these low concentrations, alcohol has been shown to be well tolerated on the skin, even on sensitive baby skin.
In line with Weleda’s holistic approach to personal care, their products derive their effect from the sum of their components and not from any individual ingredient. Weeda have performed safety and efficacy tests on all their products to ensure that under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions the use of their products is safe and will provide the claimed effects.
Weleda use organic grain alcohol, which is naturally derived from fermented plant sugars. Weleda do not use Methyl or Propyl alcohol—also known as rubbing alcohol.
Q. Does Weleda use any synthetic ingredients?
Weleda use only natural oils and plant extracts. All Weleda products are FREE of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colorants and raw materials derived from mineral oils, as well as genetically modified organisms (GMO’s). Their products are instead FULL of the highest quality, pure and natural ingredients for your body.
Q. What is magnesium aluminium silicate and why does Weleda use it?
Magnesium aluminium silicate (fuller’s earth) is a naturally occurring mineral. Its name is the standard label applied to natural earth of various origins. Other commonly known names for this ingredient are hectorite, kaolin and white clay. This clay serves as a natural thickener commonly used to hold ingredients together, providing a moisture-binding effect. The molecules of magnesium aluminium silicate are too large to be absorbed through the skin, and it is a dermatologically well-tolerated material. This clay helps to remove impurities from the skin when used in Weleda skincare products and it works as a gentle polisher in our toothpastes.
Q. Are Weleda products cruelty free?
The answer is yes they most certainly are! Weleda has never tested any of its individual ingredients nor finished beauty products on animals. Weleda don’t carry any bunny symbols on their packs because they are a global brand with international packaging, instead they have the NATRUE seal on their products. Animal testing is fundamentally against Weleda and NATRUE’s underlying values and ethics.
